The Timmins FHT offers a number of services via referrals by doctors in the local area, as well as a number of programs promoting health and disease prevention.

Family doctors provide the majority of medical primary care. The FHT full name is complimenting these services with nurse practitioners who provide a holistic nurse based approach to managing most common illnesses and providing preventative care and education for healthy living. Nurse practitioners are registered nurses with additional training and an extended scope of practice so they can provide a full range of health care services to individuals, families and communities.

The Timmins Family Health Team, the East End Family Health Team and the Timmins Family YMCA have been working with Osteoporosis Canada to offer a comprehensive program for individuals with Osteopenia and Osteoporosis. Participants of the program receive interactive information about bone health and how to reduce the risk of osteoporosis and osteoporotic fractures, along with instructions for exercises designed to maintain bone strength and prevent bone loss and falls.
